Dr. Barbara Shurtleff

I have been teaching English at Dr. Kevin M. Hurley Middle School for over 19 years. Although I have taught 6^th, 7^th, and 8^th grade at Hurley, I predominately teach 7^th grade English. I am also the Curriculum Leader for the English department at the middle school and I am the district’s data coordinator. For over a decade, I have served as a mentor. Recently, I became the co-facilitator for the Mentoring and Induction Program for the district. As a teacher, leader, and mentor I believe in a model of cooperation and kindness. Teaching brings me such happiness and mentoring encourages me for the future.
