As a mentor trainer you want to encourage your mentors to provide time for novice teachers to visit other teacher’s classrooms. This is often not possible. Use Classroom Tours and Welcome to Our Classrooms with your mentors so they become familiar with a variety of teaching practices. Use these videos as a jumping off point to discuss effective classroom practices in any of your training sessions.
It is also important to learn from experts. Watch the guest interviews led by author Carol Pelletier Radford Ed.D. to hear valuable information that will support your district program. If you don’t have time to use these in a scheduled meeting suggest mentors and novice teachers watch them on their own.
