Christine DeAmbrose
Christine enjoyed a wonderful childhood in Queens,NY, then completed her undergraduate and graduate studies in education at SUNY New Paltz. After graduating she journeyed north to where she currently resides in Wilmington,MA with her husband and three teenagers. Christine has an extensive background in the field of special education dating back to the 90s when she developed her love for middle school education and began teaching in the Boston area including Malden Middle School, Malden Alternative High School, Dearborn Academy and eventually, the Cambridge Public Schools where she has been for 14 years. Her current roles are Special Educator and District Teacher In Charge of 504.
Christine recognizes the many mentors who have shaped and inspired her. As a graduate student Christine participated a Master’s Program that required her to teach, visit and communicate regularly with incarcerated youth and adults. These were influential years which would result in her passion and advocacy for high quality urban public school education . Within her current role Christine provides professional development and training for teams including nurses, related service providers, educators and parent/caregivers. Her specialized training includes Orton Gillingham, Empower Writing, Lindamood Bell (LiPS)Training, and a pending licensure as a Reading Specialist. Christine has been a Cambridge mentor and an active participant on many boards and committees including SEPACs, fundraising, Instructional Leadership Teams, and advocacy groups.
