EDU 713 Supporting Special Education Students to be Successful (1 Graduate Credit) (formerly EDU 718)

For all educators who need to document SPED PDPs for DESE Re-certification

May 22, 2020 – June 11 ,2020; online – Self-paced: Abbreviated course – 3 weeks

One way to support students with special needs is uncover their strengths. This course offers participants an opportunity to learn 1) who the SPED students are in your classroom and school, 2) how to find out their strengths, and 3) how to use mindfulness and SEL strategies to minimize stress in the classroom for SPED students. The course final will include practical applications of the ideas with students in your school or classroom.

The content is self-paced and delivered in a .pdf document which includes videos, readings, and reflections. An online mentor communicates with each course participant by phone at the beginning of the course to confirm the timeline for course completion and to answer any questions. The online mentor also reads and responds to all reflections at the end of the course.

Course cost: $250 includes 1 graduate credit (15 SPED PDPs) from Gordon College. Does not include required texts.

EDU 719 Social and Emotional Learning: Self-Care for Educators (1 Graduate Credit)

For all educators who want to learn more about self-care and minimizing stress.

June 12, 2020 – July 2, 2020 Self-paced, Abbreviated 3 weeks

This mini-course offers participants an opportunity to learn; 1) social and emotional skills to minimize stressful reactions 2) the benefits of mindfulness and 3) practical ways to integrate self-care into our busy lives. The content is delivered online and includes videos, readings, and reflections. An online mentor communicates with each course participant by phone at the beginning of the course to confirm the timeline for course completion and to answer any questions.

Course cost: $250
