Carol Flionis
My name is Carol Flionis and I have been a teacher in the Worcester Public Schools for twenty eight years. I began my teaching career in the intermediate elementary inclusion classroom. Inspired by my students with special needs, I returned to school and obtained my Master’s degree in Special Education from Assumption College. For the last ten years, I’ve worked exclusively with students with learning disabilities across all grade levels. Many of my students require intensive reading instruction which I am able to provide using the Wilson Reading System. I have also had the privilege of teaching many adults to read through the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission.
To varying degrees, I believe that all professional educators have a responsibility to support and encourage a whole new generation of teachers. My mentoring journey began when I became aware of the exiting of aspiring educators from our profession. My goal is support the new teachers in my buildings along with helping my district to develop a stronger and more expansive mentoring induction program.
