Meditation and Mudras Meditation and Mudras

One way to take an “intentional pause” is to use your hands to create gestures. These gestures signal your body and mind that you are taking a break. Each gesture has a focus and an energy level attached to it. In these short videos I introduce ten mudras that align with the ten chapters from the Teaching With Light book Link to Book. Nature Therapy

I learned about Forest Bathing several years ago when I was on a yoga retreat. Since then I have taken several forest walks and also participated in walks with certified guides. There are many resources online and more and more people are seeing the value of these walks in nature to restore our physical health as well as reduce our anxiety. In this video I am leading a retreat that provides you with an overview of “Forest Bathing” (shinrin yoku). Link to Forest Bathing Video

Meditations for Mentors

Mindfulness means being present in the moment. Paying attention to what we are doing right now. We are all often so busy we find it difficult to just stop, breathe, and be in the moment. Mentors need time to refresh, think clearly, and be supported so they can be mindful listeners for novice teachers. We can’t take care of others if we are unbalanced and stressed! Mentoring for Well-Being

I was invited to submit a chapter to this book. My chapter is titled Mindful Mentoring in Action: Shining A Spotlight on Teacher Wellbeing If you are a district leader, researcher, or mentor leader you will find the chapters in this book beneficial. A focus on the whole educator is crucial to retention, school culture, and the positive development of all educators. https://www.amazon.com/Mentoring-Wellbeing-Schools-Perspectives/dp/B0CT9PYZF2
