I wrote this book to provide mentors with a guide to monthly meetings with their novice teachers. It is filled with conversation starters and ideas for assessing novice teachers’ needs.  Part I of the book provides mentor leaders with an overview of how to prepare mentors and the Appendices include agendas for busy mentors.

The First Years Matter

This is the “companion book” for Mentoring in Action! It is designed to be used by novice teachers for the first three years of teaching.

  • Year 1 ~ Mentors and mentees use the book together. This common language allows mentees to prepare for mentoring conversations. It encourages them to self-mentor and reflect on their practices by seeing all the topics for the entire year.
